CNC Machinist

📍 San Jose, CA 🕒 Full Time 🎓 Journeyman to Senior 💵 $30 – $45 / hour

About the Role

Squid Industries is a manufacturing business with a focus in the knife industry. Our 17,000 sq ft facility in San Jose, CA is equipped with four Haas VF2SS, two Okuma Genos M560V, one Citizen Cincom L12 Type VII, one Okamoto SA1 1224, one Brother S700X2, and one IPG Photonics 4KW Laser Cube.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate 3-axis CNC vertical machining centers
• Utilize Fusion 360 CAD/CAM software to design fixtures, create toolpaths, and optimize machining processes
• Select and install tooling, workholding, and fixtures for efficient production
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and fixturing issues to improve part quality and cycle times
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other precision metrology equipment to verify dimensional accuracy
• Operate finishing equipment including vibratory tumblers, blasting cabinets, and belt grinders
• Operate band saws and other cutting equipment to prepare raw material for machining
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications
• Occasionally perform mechanical assembly using hand tools, arbor presses, and other shop equipment
• Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and preventative maintenance tasks
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Document machining processes, tooling, offsets, and setup procedures

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in CNC machining and setup
• Minimum 1 year of experience with CNC Programming
• Must be proficient with at least 1 CAD and CAM software
• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Familiar with Google Sheets and Docs
• Ability to lift 40 pounds
