Do your balisong handles ever get a little stiff? It is a problem every balisong flipper comes across. Luckily it is a simple fix! In this video, TV shows us how to tackle stiff handles in a few simple steps.
For this maintenance you will need:
You can purchase all the items needed to maintain your balisong on our website!
- T10 Torx Driver
- Lubricating Oil

First, apply lubricating oil on the pivot area of the stiff handle.
If step one did not work for you, place your balisong in close position and squeeze the handles together to prevent the pivots for spinning. Next, unscrew the screw while squeezing the handles together.
If your handle is still feeling stiff after step one and two, hold the stiff handle in one hand and the blade and the other handle in the other hand. Make sure that your palms are facing down and that your thumbs are around the pivot area. Then with low to moderate force, push and pull to open up the channel until the handle swings freely.
Finish up by reapplying loctite onto the screw. After you have applied loctite onto the screw, blow the loctite so it spreads onto the screw evenly. Next, with the same squeezing handle position we used earlier, re-screw the screw into the pivot. Screw the screw in until it hits the end of the pivot. This will still lead to a stiff handle, however, this is where we begin tuning the balisong. Slowly uncrew the screw until the handle begins swinging freely. Once you finish tuning your balisong, you are left with a super smooth handle! 😎
